Stack Overflow Sample Data

tap-stackoverflow-sampledata (buzzcutnorman variant)

Tap for the Stack Overflow XML dump files available at Archive.org. Intended as a loader plugin testing aid.

The tap-stackoverflow-sampledata extractor pulls data from Stack Overflow Sample Data that can then be sent to a destination using a loader.

Getting Started

Prerequisites

If you haven't already, follow the initial steps of the Getting Started guide:

  1. Install Meltano
  2. Create your Meltano project

Installation and configuration

  1. Add the tap-stackoverflow-sampledata extractor to your project using
    meltano add
    :
  2. meltano add extractor tap-stackoverflow-sampledata
  3. Configure the tap-stackoverflow-sampledata settings using
    meltano config
    :
  4. meltano config tap-stackoverflow-sampledata set --interactive
  5. Test that extractor settings are valid using
    meltano config
    :
  6. meltano config tap-stackoverflow-sampledata test

Data Directory (stackoverflow_data_directory)

  • Environment variable: TAP_STACKOVERFLOW_SAMPLEDATA_STACKOVERFLOW_DATA_DIRECTORY

A path to the StackOverflow XML data files.


Configure this setting directly using the following Meltano command:

meltano config tap-stackoverflow-sampledata set stackoverflow_data_directory [value]

Encoding Format (batch_config.encoding.format)

  • Environment variable: TAP_STACKOVERFLOW_SAMPLEDATA_BATCH_CONFIG_ENCODING_FORMAT

Batch file format. Currently the only format is 'jsonl'.


Configure this setting directly using the following Meltano command:

meltano config tap-stackoverflow-sampledata set batch_config encoding.format [value]

Encoding Compression (batch_config.encoding.compression)

  • Environment variable: TAP_STACKOVERFLOW_SAMPLEDATA_BATCH_CONFIG_ENCODING_COMPRESSION

Batch file compression. Currently the only compression options is 'gzip'.


Configure this setting directly using the following Meltano command:

meltano config tap-stackoverflow-sampledata set batch_config encoding.compression [value]

Storage Root Directory (batch_config.storage.root)

  • Environment variable: TAP_STACKOVERFLOW_SAMPLEDATA_BATCH_CONFIG_STORAGE_ROOT

The directory you want batch messages to be placed in. For example, file://test/batches.


Configure this setting directly using the following Meltano command:

meltano config tap-stackoverflow-sampledata set batch_config storage.root [value]

Storage Prefix (batch_config.storage.prefix)

  • Environment variable: TAP_STACKOVERFLOW_SAMPLEDATA_BATCH_CONFIG_STORAGE_PREFIX

What prefix you want your messages to have. For example, test-batch-.


Configure this setting directly using the following Meltano command:

meltano config tap-stackoverflow-sampledata set batch_config storage.prefix [value]
